AIA - Frankfort Saima Mozaffar – Lead Teacher Saima Ashraf Mozaffar is a certified teacher with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Governors State University. She also has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from St. Joseph's College, Karachi, Pakistan. In the past 12 years, she has been actively engaged in the upbringing of her three children, ages 12, 9 and 7, as a full time Mom. In the meantime she has been very involved in doing Interfaith work in the South West Suburbs. Arshia Sabir Arshia Sabir lives in the south suburb of Palos Park. She graduated suma cum laude from Loyola University with a BBA in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. She has 4 beautiful children, Masha’Allah (3 boys and one girl). She is actively involved in the Muslim community and wants a safe, Islamic environment where her children can hang out. Arshia would really like to stress not just memorizing Surahs, Hadiths, duas, and Islamic tarbiyat, but more importantly retaining it throughout the children’s lives. She wants children to love Islam and realize it is a simple religion that should be practiced in all daily activities. Arshia loves spending time with kids and playing all kinds of sports, but wishes she had time for more, like reading and enjoying nature. Nosheen Siraj – Lead Teacher Ayesha Quadri Ayesha Quadri is currently finishing her degree in Psychology to further pursue a career in counseling. She also attends madrasa part time on weekends. She is a mother of one. She is very happy to have moved back to the suburbs after teaching two years in Iowa at an Islamic elementary school. Her decision to take part in Camp Busy Bees is much associated with her love for teaching kids and wanting to give back to the community. Sana Mohiuddin Sana Mohiuddin is a great asset to the community. She studied in Syria for one summer and also at IIE for 2 years. She loves to teach kids, and is really excited about joining Camp Busy Bees because she has heard great things about the program. ICC of Des Plaines - Des Plaines Fatima Alvi – Lead Teacher Fatima Alvi is the lead teacher at Des Plaines Potter Masjid. She is currently studying Early Childhood Education (birth-3rd grade). In the future she hopes to teach Insha’Allah. In her prior years (2005 & 2007) volunteering for Camp Busy Bees, Fatima has had wonderful experiences. Each summer, she is able to utilize skills to facilitate in the Islamic learning of young girls. During this time, she is also able to develop great bonds with fellow volunteers. Every summer’s theme brings a new opportunity for her to invest her time and energy, and Masha’Allah it has always been a pleasure for her to be a part of Camp Busy Bees. Miriam Khan Miriam Khan is a great asset to the community. She has experience in teaching young girls Islamic knowledge and would like to further her experiences with Camp Busy Bees. She would also like to familiarize herself with the training of young Muslimas in proper Islamic tarbiyat. Baian Tbakhi Baian Tbakhi is a Junior at Glenbrook South High School. Some of her hobbies include playing sports and word games. Baian volunteered for Camp Busy Bees in the Summer of 2006, and enjoyed the experience very much! She loves working with kids and teaching them, especially when she herself is interested in the subject. CBB is so much fun for Baian that she doesn’t even consider it as a job, but more like spending time with her Muslim sisters. Masjid-al-Huda - Schaumburg Safa Qadeer – Lead Teacher Safa Qadeer is the Lead Teacher this year at Masjid-al-Huda’s Camp Busy Bees. She attends the University of Illinois at Chicago and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. Insha'Allah, she also plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Pharmacy. In her free time, she likes to read books and do puzzles. For Safa, Camp Busy Bees is an amazing experience that she believes everyone should have the opportunity of trying because it is so inspiring watching these young students accomplish so much in a matter of weeks, Masha’Allah. She loves returning to CBB every year just to see her old students and know that she, as well as all the other teachers and volunteers, are doing something in the path of Allah(swt). It is truly a rewarding experience. Syeda Hussain Syeda Hussain has been teaching at Camp Busy Bees for four years. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, specifically in the teaching of Mathematics. Today, Masha’Allah she is a Math teacher at Von Steuben High School. One of Syeda’s main hobbies is gardening. She continues to return to CBB every year because of the wonderful environment, where all the kids love to see what you have in store for them each day. Most of all, Syeda loves to teach children knowledge in fun and creative ways so that they will remember that learning is a fun, as well as educational, experience. Aliya Hoda Aliya Hoda graduated from the University of Illinois-Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in the Teaching of English. Since then, she has taught middle school Reading at Islamic Foundation School, and currently teaches 5th grade at Averroes Academy in Northbrook, Illinois. She has also spent time being a writing tutor as well as learning Arabic and French. Her hobbies include baking, sewing, calligraphy, and enjoying the great outdoors. ISNS - Rolling Meadows Fouzia Khan Fouzia Khan is a Camp Busy Bees teacher. She has four children of her own, who all had a chance of attending CBB for one year. They learned great songs, many Surahs, and how to garden, which is why Fouzia is excited to work for CBB. She hopes her children can make more friends this year and continue learning. She would like to help other children in the program learn Islamic knowledge as her children learned before. Fouzia considers CBB to be a very resourceful and education experience for kids and hopes to have great memories to look back on.
