Sessions - Camp Busy Bees

Camp meets Monday through Thursday with the following schedule*:

9:30 am Discussion/Songs/Stations of Quran and Arabic**
11:00 am Snack Break
11:15 am Writing/Performance
12:30 pm Pick-up

* Frankfort's session times are not yet announced.

** Stations are a means to dividing the campers into three sections. Each section rotates among the three stations. Quran, Arabic, and Dua' are the three areas of focus; each focus is given a station. Thus, each camper is taught the three focus areas.

Session I: June 20th  to July 14th (all locations)*

Week 1:
Assessing level of campers’ knowledge of the subject of the moon through readings, discussions, and literature. Students will begin to formulate questions and wonderings of this often forgotten treasure.

Week 2:
Recording moon observations and creating orbital simulations will give campers a hands-on approach to the movements of the Earth and Moon around the Sun. An appreciation of the moon and how it guides our time will be the objective.

Week 3:
Depending on the grade level, campers will explore how the moon reflects the light of the Sun just as we reflect the light of the Prophet (s). Students will create collages and art work in order to understand this concept.

Week 4:
Preparing for the Parent Gallery, all artwork and written pieces along with finalizing the “astronaut interview” will be showcased and presentations will be rehearsed for a polished final presentation.
